RRFB Approves Community Sponsorship Funding

RRFB has approved CRIA's application for the Community Sponsorship Funding program.  We plan to utilize this funding to purchase waste separation containers to assist our efforts in reducing the amount of waste our Centre generates.  This is the first step in the many that Carleton Road plans to take to make our organization a greener facility.

$500 Grant Awarded to CRIA

Carleton Road Industries has recently been awarded a $500 grant from the Bridgetown Area Community Fund that had been distributed by the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia.  The grant was to:

• To support a program of, or the work of, organization(s) that assist(s) individuals in need of transportation to access services; and

• To organization(s) that hold registered charitable status or partner with one that does (eg a non profit/municipality partnership).

We plan to utilize these funds to assist in vehicle maintenance and transportation costs; therefore enabling CRIA to further our efforts in providing more educational/recreational opportunities to our participants.

Not bad for his first time competing at the national level!

Kijiji Fundraising Initiative on 3rd run

In early January, CRIA attempted our second "trade up" utilizing Kijiji, our first ad began again with a bag of kindling.  Within a day we had traded our bag of kindling for a used set of tires with approximately 50 percent treadwear remaining.  We traded the tires for a drill, mitre saw and some other shop tools, with this trade we decided to keep the tools to utilize in our Woodworking Department.  We view this trade to be successful as well due  to the fact that we are regularly requiring new tools and equipment to continue producing quality woodworking items.

Today we commenced our third Kijiji "trade up" ad, we anticipate this attempt to be equally as exciting and succesful.  To view our ad visit Kijiji and search Ad ID 355441877.

Thanks to all who have followed us in these attempts and check back regularly.

CRIA’s Second Kijiji Trade Made!!

large_Antique wood cooking stove_0We have recently traded the Hot Tub for an antique wood cooking stove made by Enterprise that’s in excellent condition.  To see the ad of this stove please view it at  ID 311960553 on Kijiji.

We eagerly anticipate responses and are open for trades of equal or greater value so check back often to track the progress as we will be updating this section as soon as trades are made.  Take part in our “swap-a-thon”, and be a part of an exciting new method in which may possibly assist us immensely in providing better quality of service to our participants.

Our underlying goals are to raise awareness of CRIA and what we do and to hopefully raise some funds at the same time.  All proceeds at the end of this fundraising campaign will be utilized for the upgrade and/or expansion of the programs and services offered to the individuals we serve.

Thanks!!

Grant Approval

CRIA is pleased to announce that our recent application for the ACCESS-abilty grant offered through Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations has been approved.  This grant will greatly assist CRIA in removing barriers for participants in our programs and for the community.  Home Mobility is contracted for this undertaking and we anticipate making improvements specifically for wheelchair accessibility.  This will be achieved by lengthening our existing ramp, adding handrails and levered door handles, lavatory upgrades and ensuring accessibility to programs offered in the Administrative building.

Kijiji Fundraiser Complete

Just an update to say that we sold the antique wood cooking stove that we obtained on our second trade for $800! This initiative was very successful considering we started out with a bag of kindling, retail at Carleton Road Industries of $3.25.  With only two trades we made a great profit.  All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for the upgrade and/or expansion of the services we offer to persons who have been diagnosed with a disability.  Thanks to everyone who inquired and followed us in this trial fundraiser, check back soon as i'm sure we will give this another try.
